Letting Begonia's Be Begonia's

Letting Begonia's Be Begonia's

Letting bygone's be bygone's as the saying goes. These pictures are of my Grandma's begonia I have been tending to since she passed away over 15 years ago. There've been times when I didn't think it would make it but it seems very happy now and let's me know by blooming these sweet, shimmery white flowers. So, I believe, in this case, we DON'T let bygones be bygones.. we let the begonia's be begonia's.
Grandma lives on!

Trip to the Antique Mall

Today I felt like getting out for a bit. I decided to go visit an antique mall a friend told me about. She has a booth there so I thought I'd check it out. What a fun place, called BEEKMAN'S. I loved the set up and atmosphere. A lot of VERY nice things. I saw a hutch I want and decided to take a picture of it with my cell phone (for lack of better options) and then I just decided to take more pictures of things I liked. Excuse the quality but enjoy the idea. The vintage stove is for my sister. If I win the lottery tonight I'll pick it up for her. The tea pot is one of the pieces I'm missing that go with the set I started when my Grandma passed away. She had a set similar to this. The dollhouse and dolls... Grandma and Grandpa's had a dollhouse with dolls just like this and similar furniture. The MOM doll especially brings back memories. Going to antique malls and looking at vintage things takes me back, soothes my soul. I can just melt into those things for they give me such a warm and cozy feeling. I am vintage through and through.

24 Hours of Inspiration

The first came at work when a student brought her milk money, all in dimes.

She came back again at lunch, dug in her pockets, pulling out a mound of change. Lunch money, all in dimes.

I didn't think much of it at breakfast, but when the dimes poured in at lunch, it hit me. I must be in need of some inspiration.

Then during my lunch hour, I went to pick up my son and there, perched in between car seat and door: a dime.

Then later at home, I found a note on my desk from my daughter. She'd found a dime and placed it there with the note.

When I asked her where she found the dime she said "In the bathroom, on the rug." I'd just visited the bathroom and I didn't see any dime. And you would guess by now that I notice dimes.

COINCIDENCE? Or something more divine?
I was sick today and stayed home from work. While I lay in bed I had my laptop on and stumbled upon a website that posed the question: "What does it mean when you keep finding dimes?" So naturally I spent some good time reading the posts in response. Delighted to know I am not the only one who finds dimes, dimes and more dimes. I also found a post that responded with information about numberology and the importance of the number 10. Read here:

"If the number One symbolizes the beginning (& it does), then we can say that the number Ten represents the outcome, result, or achievement of that first step or beginning. The most profound message number Ten hails is whatever we sew, we shall now reap. In other words, what comes around goes around. Ten also represents fulfillment, attainment, and completion. These attributes are obtained by observing the Ten containing all the elementary numbers from 1 to 9. As such, Ten is a vessel holding all the jumbled up potential found in the language of numbers. Ten is also a bit slippery because reduced - it turns back to number One - hence, again - a full circle, coming to the beginning - finding unity (all is one, one is all). That you are picking up a great deal of dimes is quite a good sign. Specifically, dimes may be symbolic of shiny opportunities coming your way that you once thought were lost to you. Remember Tens are strong representation of recycling events (full circle) - a dime is a superior symbolic symbol of such phenomenon. Consider how many times a dime (or any money for that matter) is recycled through our society. Symbolic dimes provide messages of lost opportunities regained. Things we thought we should not or could not do are beginning to resurface. Our energies are being recycled. Our intellectual currency is on the brink of change. Shiny, bright and round, these dimes on your path are beacons of promise. They hold the meaning of number Ten firmly in their vibration and that is: Events are coming full circle. Cast off the old, and don the new. Step into the beginning that is for your greatest good."
For whatever reason, a SIGN OF THE DIMES is a very good thing, indeed!

My Beautiful Sister

This is my sister Kitty. She's not just my sister, she's my best friend. I love these pictures of her, with her beautiful smile and exudance of life (if "exudance" isn't a word, it is now). Kitty encourages me in ways she can't imagine. She sets me straight when I need it. She's honest with her judgement, guidance, opinions because she knows I need and appreciate it. She's my shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with, take a country drive with, try something new with, and even at times she's been my grocery store. I have so much to be thankful for to have a sister like her. Some people don't have sisters...they don't know what they're missing. I feel sorry they can't feel the bond that we do. She's my right arm, and probably (since I don't have one) my better half. Our Grandma was always the one we trusted, turned to and admired. Now Kitty is the one I trust, turn to and admire. My sister is a part of me. I love you Kitty! Thanks for being the best sister and friend I could imagine!

It's A Wild Life & A Safari!

Life's Wild Ride!

Oregon's Wildlife Safari ~ sometimes hilly, sometimes flat. Some dry spells with nothing exciting happening (animals), sometimes more activity than you can handle. Charging bears, amazing eagles, and the curious that come to take a closer look. Sweet faces you meet on the way, others not so sweet. Sometimes caged, sometimes completely free. A beautiful view, and sometimes simply barren.
Isn't LIFE like that too?

Fast Cars & Freedom

There's nothing like the old classics: attention to detail, fine, fluid lines, Bakelite gear knobs, and... dice! The feel of cold leather or vinyl, a push button radio, a purring engine. Pure works of art! Classic!

For The Birds

"The Joy of Winged Things"

Not only am I a people watcher, but a bird watcher as well. I like to watch how birds land on something as tiny as a steeple lightning rod. Or gracefully balance on a swaying branch. Just something interesting about them, to me. Particularly the black birds. Here are some pictures I've taken. A parting question: Is an ostrich a bird?
